Sleep is essential for the maintenance of life. Its significance to us as organisms is often undervalued and it is safe to say that it is the most under siege from the demands of our modern life, along with Rest. Sleep is absolutely vital for survival as well as for the well-being of our bodymind. Sleep deprivation, disrupted or disorganised sleep, all challenge the efforts of our body systems to remain in harmonious balance, without which we are likely to experience all manner of physical and mental health challenges.

Let this edition of Field Notes be an invitation for you to reflect on the quality of your sleep and something called sleep “hygiene” so that you begin to make enough time to properly rest, restore, and revive each night.
