COMPANION NOTES: fat, the unsung tissue
Welcome to this set of resources. You'll find images and video clips, useful links, playlists, guided practices, references to mythology and astrology, plus journaling prompts.
When you let your imagination and curiosity become involved in your explorations things become more immediate, more personal. Allow the anatomy to inspire imagery, music choices, and movement possibilities. Think outside the box and consider the language you associate with the anatomy, as well as stories, myths and archetypes.
I hope my collection inspires you to create your own unique resources.
ANATOMY
In addition to Kenhub, which has free to access information and images (videos and quizzes require a payment plan), I also found this site from publishers Elsevier useful for further understanding adipose biology. Take a look if you want to learn more about the different adipocyte classifications and the various physiological functions of fat.
GUIDED PRACTICES
I’ve recorded two short movement practice ideas for you. The first encourages you to find non-linear movement through the fatty tissues beneath the skin and between the organs. If you think “lemniscate” (the figure eight, infinity symbol) as your go-to pathways, however allow yourself to improvise.
